NEMS Market Research
NEMS Market Research

A well structured team of research professionals

There are over seventy of us including the CATI team at our offices in Billingham and a further 1,000 or so field interviewers and supervisors spread across the UK. As you'd expect the talents represented within NEMS range from statistical analysis, survey design and management right through to interviewers and administrators.

Investing in people

Behind all the methodology statistics you will find the people and professional procedures that make up NEMS. Making sure the two work in harmony is the cornerstone of our business.; that we all share common goals, standards and understanding is due in no small measure to our adherence to the principles of Investors in People. We are proud of our IIP  award, but more important than that feel it is a fundamental constituent of the NEMS business ethos.

Training

As you’d expect from an IIP business, training, or, more properly, the continuous professional development of our people is important to us. We work closely with various government skills agencies and have an ongoing learning programme in place with NECC.

KEY PEOPLE

Richard Lindsay - Director

I graduated in International Business Studies from Liverpool University and IPAG Ecole de Commerce, Nice.
I have been a Director of NEMS since 2000 and have more than 15 years market research experience. My particular expertise lies in quantitative research projects, especially with retail and town planning related projects as well as media effectiveness studies. I am a Full Member of the Market Research Society.
I enjoy fine art and fine wine in my spare time.

Geoff Siggens - Director

Originally qualifying as a Chemical Engineer, I moved into market research over 20 years ago, as an Analyst.
My career has been varied, from the brewing industry with Vaux Breweries to regional newspapers with Northeast Press, before moving agency-side to NEMS.
I have been a Director at NEMS for over 6 years and I am involved in all aspects of managing the business as well as directly interfacing with clients and managing a range of projects. My experience covers a wide range of projects encompassing retail, media and social research projects. I have extensive knowledge of analysis, including development of pioneering newspaper research techniques that achieved international recognition. My project portfolio usually reflects this analytical experience.
Outside of work my interests turn to nature. A keen interest in birds (and all things natural history) has been a lifelong passion. I am also heavily involved in animal welfare charity work and run a pet rabbit rescue with my wife Andrea.

Martin Hunt - Technical Director

I am responsible for data programming and sophisticated computer analysis of research findings. I have over 20 years experience of data entry, processing and software development.

Nicola Moore - Research Manager

With a five year history of international detergent industry market research, the move to NEMS four years ago increased my client base to include councils, planners, advertising agencies and local businesses.
My extensive knowledge of quantitative research methods include hall tests, product placements, business to business and in-street interviews, door to door, store exit and public transport interviewing. Qualitative methods include group discussions (focus groups) and individual depth interviews.
Within NEMS, I am responsible for managing all aspects of research projects whilst working closely with clients. Projects have ranged from perception and attitude studies among residents and the general public to more sensitive projects amongst carers. However, I have specialised in managing all aspects of household shopper studies.
As manager of the field department I oversee all aspects of field projects, ensuring interviewing is conducted accurately and within the specified fieldwork period.
I have achieved the CIM Introductory level and is working towards a foundation degree in Leadership and Management.
I enjoy a full and varied social life, from the local pub quiz to entertaining in my new home. I have recently found a passion in home computer games with the arrival of the Nintendo Wii. In the summer months I enjoy the great outdoors with the occasional music festival thrown in.

Louise Caswell - CATI Manager

I have had a rather varied career having begun my working life as a trainee florist on a youth opportunity course, I completed this successfully and gathered further floristry and management experience in various florist shops in Cleveland, eventually managing a couple of florist shops before going into partnership with a friend in our own florist shop.
On closure of the florists, I was unsure of what I wanted to do next. I came to work at NEMS, beginning as an interviewer and working my way to junior then senior team leader.
I was promoted to Manager of the CATI team in January 2007, and look after a team of eight team leaders and over 80 interviewers. I am directly responsible for recruitment of interviewers and team leaders, allocation of work, meeting company targets and deadlines and ensuring all runs smoothly in the CATI team. The work is challenging but enjoyable and rewarding.
While at NEMS I have achieved my NVQ level 2 in call handing. I recently embarked on a foundation degree course in leadership and management at Teesside University.
In my spare time I work as an unpaid stable hand for my youngest daughter who aspires to be the next Zara Philips. I’m also involved in the organisation of various equestrian events.

Paul Murray - Senior Research Executive
